Field Trip/DVD/Senior Night/Nationals

We need all drill members who are going on the field trip on Monday to pay $5 for the bus to the main office ASAP. I need a receipt, thank you! Don't forget to bring lunch money - Macaroni Grill.

If you are buying a DVD - they are $10. As soon as everyone has their money in, we can order them - the sooner you get it in, the sooner we can order them ; 0 )

Senior Night - Feb 14th Girls Game. Drill Seniors will be presented before the game starts and before the girls bb team. Please arrive no later than 6:30pm. Studly Stangs will be performing that night, drill will not. If you want to watch the game and the performance, you will need to pay to get in. If you are only there to watch seniors and half-time, you must remain with Coach B the entire time, in the dance room or watching SS perform. After half-time you will need to leave if you did not pay to get in.

Please get your payments in for Nationals, if you do not pay in full - you will not attend the trip!

WAY TO GO MESTENAS!!!!!!!! What a great way to end your competition season at State! The team finished 11th out of 15 teams! Way to represent! Coaches are so proud of each and every one of you! Thank you to all the family members, students, faculty, and parents who came out to support not only at STATE, but throughout our season! We appreciate you coming to games, assemblies, and our invitationals! GREAT JOB LADIES!

Anyone who wishes to order a dvd of State - if we order 10 or more they cost $10 each. If we have less than 10, they will be $39 each. Please let me know on Tuesday during class if you want to order one. We will receive them within 30 days. I will then let you know how much money is due, based on how many we will be ordering.

NO MORE EARLY MORNING PRACTICES!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!! We will only meet during class time during our dead time. See you Tuesday in the dance room, BEFORE the tardy bell ; 0 ) I have reserved the media center for Feb 15th and 17th - so bring any and all homework.

Start Time - 11:00am (Doors open 2 hours prior) YOU CANNOT SAVE SEATS - no blankets, jackets, etc.

Parking - there is no charge for parking.

Prices - Adults $6, Students grades K-12 $4

Senior Citizens 65 and older $4

Kids ages 5 and younger are FREE

YOU CANNOT VIDEO TAPE ANY OTHER TEAMS! You may video your own team. "Remember When Videos" will have DVD's for sale - 4A and 5A will be together on one disc. Look for their kiosk.

MESTENAS DRILL TEAM...GOING TO STATE!!!!!!! Congrats to the Herriman HS drill team! Region took place on Jan 18th at Hillcrest HS. The team placed 3rd in Character and 4th overall. Sydnee Strong took 3rd in the Drill Down and Kimmy Montoya is the Region 7 Drill Down Champ! What an awesome night!

Thank you to all the family members, friends and parents for coming out to support! Thanks to the girls basketball team, wrestlers, and SBO's for showing your support! We greatly appreciate each and every one of you!

Nationals Update

Parents - We are sending home a waiver form that needs to be filled out for Disney Sports. I am also sending home the JSD Medical Insurance Form. Both need to be filled out and I need them by Friday, January 6th. The JSD form does need to be notarized. Thanks so much!

Reminder that your 2nd payment is due Jan 10th of $150 per person if you have not yet paid it.

Jan 16^th - Region Rehearsal at Hillcrest HS Arrive by 2:10pm. We start at 2:30pm and we get 1 hour to block.

Jan 18^th - Region at Hillcrest. We will arrive by bus at 3pm – Leave HHS at 2:15pm Spectators cannot enter until 4pm – YOU CANNOT SAVE SEATS. Tickets will be $4 and $7 – we will have some to sell to family members.

NO PRACTICE MONDAY, DEC 12TH! Take the day off ladies, you have earned it! Go to teachers if you need to. PLEASE BRING ALL COSTUMES ON TUESDAY...TO PUT BACK IN COSTUME CLOSET...

Ladies please make sure that you get your notebooks for those who have not handed them in, also need your scrapbook page-sisters handed in, and your critiques on UVU Invitational. Don't forget that drill is a class, and you must complete your assignments on time if you want to perform for Winter Showcase on December 22nd, as well as the Boys Endowment Game on Dec 20th.

No performance on Dec 13th...

Hearts of Gold - Dec 13 and 15 - Collect Change after school. Officers will meet Amy, SBO president, in main office to get change jugs.

Dec 16th - Carnival 5-8pm, bring baked goods that morning...sign up for shifts in class on Tuesday, Dec 13th.

Dec 15th - Cake auction at lunch

Dec 14th - Christmas Party at Tanesha Bland's Home - draw names for homemade gift, coaches are included in the drawing of names on Tuesday during class.

Dec 21st - Doughnut on a String Activity both lunches - you will go to the lunch you normally have and help set up the activity.

This past weekend, the drill team traveled to Northridge HS for the Excalibur Classic Drill Invitational. There were 10 4A teams that competed. The girls did a great job! They placed 3rd in Officer's Dance, 4th in Lyrical, and 5th in Character! Way to go ladies!!!!! We are so proud of you!

Hi Gang - Just to let you know the payment schedule for Nationals for our hotel, entry fees, comp fees will be on the following dates. If your money for USANA is all used up, you will need to pay the front office - have them put it in drill acct under "Nationals Trip" - and give one copy to Coach B. I have contacted Champion, and this is the info I have so far...I will have a more detailed payment schedule once they get all of our information - which will be by Tuesday.

1st payment - December 14th - $150 per person

2nd payment - January 10th - $150 per person

3rd and final payment - January 31st -final balance due

The cost I put on the sheet I sent home...had the wrong cost for the girls - Champion sent me a revised cost list for spectators and performers. The price is per person. This is not including airfare... Airfare will be approximately $445 per person.

Dancers Price - $650 this includes their competition fees.

Spectator Price - per person

Congrats to the Mestenas Drill Team for their first competition at UVU this weekend! The drill team performed their hearts out! The girls brought home 2nd in Hip Hop, 1st in Lyrical, and 1st in Officer's. Job well done! Coaching staff couldn't be prouder!

Congrats to Tanesha Bland for placing 1st and 2nd in jazz and lyrical in the solo competition held the night before at UVU! Way to go!

Thank you to all the family and friends that came out to see the drill team perform. Thank you parents for the good luck items - very clever and much appreciated! Thanks to those who have been helping out with costumes...we will contact you when we need to do our next rhinestoning party!

Parents if your girls need their straps on their lyrical dresses adjusted, please go ahead and fix those. We will need the pink jackets back to fix their collars. We are also going to get their unitards for military fixed and adjusted.

Thanks again for all your support! The girls were very positive on Saturday despite nerves adn had a lot of fun! SO proud of them!

We will practice this Saturday, November 19th, as planned. We will be in the dance room to warm up 7-7:30am, then take it to the Main Gym until 9am, then back into the dance room. Members are to wear all black. Please bring water, and eat a healthy breakfast!

Hi Parents - Here is some information I can get to you right now. I am waiting to hear back from the company to make sure that everything is included in this price. 4 nights lodging, 3 day admission to Walt Disney World Resort Park Hopper with entry into the Magic Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios. 3 meal coupons for use at Disney World. Transportation to and from competition venue is included. Once I know more, should be next week, I will hold a meeting to let you know payment schedule and such. Thanks for all you do!

REMINDER-FUNDRAISING

All fundraising envelopes are due! Please turn them into Adri no later than Tuesday. Please have your totals written on the outside of the envelope. If you have not turned in all your money for car wash tickets and kick-a-thon, please do so ASAP. Please put the receipt in Coach B's mailbox, or bring to practice with you this week.

We are moving the dance workshop to a later date (Nov. 5th?). Coaches are looking at the calendar to see when it would best fit the drill schedule.

Oct 29th will be a guys pref dance at HHS. We will be putting this on and it will be a Halloween theme.

Please get a hold of any mini-drill members parent's who paid for them to get into the game on Aug 19th. I need to know how many would like to be refunded. We are trying to see if it's possible since they were not receipted at the game. In order to get a refund, we have to have a receipt. Mr. Birch will get back to me in a few days to see if this is possible.

Making up Demerits

For those ladies who need to make up their demerits before Monday...

You may do a critique on SYTUCD with this weeks episode, or last weeks episode. You need to discuss which pieces you like or dislike, why you like or dislike them. You will also need to watch the results show and discuss whether or not you agree with the voting. You may also critique the opening piece on the results show.

2 pages typed, 12pt font, double spaced - HAND IN ON MONDAY, AUGUST 8TH!

If you went to the Cottonwood performance and have not yet emailed it to me - it was due June 20th ; 0 ) I will give you credit for only 1 demerit rather than 2 if you hand it in on Aug 8th. If you have attended any dance workshops you may do the same with the critique.

All demerits must be gone by Monday...so don't forget your critiques. You may not be considered for the competition lyrical piece which we will be learning on Mon and Tues.
